There
is NO SANE REASON why private citizens should be running around with
assault rifles and high capacity amo clips. These weapons have are
designed for the sole purpose of killing large numbers of people with
maximum efficiency.
Instead of insuring public safety, our gun laws are designed to apease the NRA and a handfull of very vocal gun nuts who are against any and all sane gun regulation. This has to change.

I
used to run around as you put it with a 15 round clip. Plus I had two
extra ones in a holder on my waist. And yes I had a CCW as well.
You are completely wrong about what these guns are designed for as you've stated above.
The hi-cap clips (of a normal 15, 16, 17 or 19 variety) give you a chance in a firefight which is much better than a six shooter pistol for example. The more bullets the better basically. With a small clip or six shot pistol you're changing out bullets very quickly if you're in a firefight while a 15 round clip gives you more time and being a semi-auto gets you do it much faster than another type of weapon such as a pistol. I've owned both and a speedy loader just doesn't hold a candle to a mag in change out speeds.
I will give you a real life example that happened to a good friend one night about twenty-five years or so ago. He was a Korean war combat Vet and saw a lot of action.
That is more than a lot of people can say. He knew what he was doing and had done it. He was used to being under fire and such.
One night a guy pulled a gun on him and tried to rob him.
He had a small 380 I believe with something like an 8 or maybe 10 round clip. I think it was eight though but its been a long time and memory isn't so good.
All conditions were optimal such as no civilians and a good solid backdrop to block any bullets going into homes or elsewhere etc.
With all the combat experience he had, with the robber shooting at him and him shooting back it was complete chaos as it usually is.
He used two clips and fired which would make 16 rounds if I'm correct while ducking and running from cover to cover all while under fire.
His final tally was one bullet in the robber's leg and another in his arm with 14 in the car behind the shooter.
Its not as simple as just standing there and shooting someone bang, bang, bang and it's all over.
Thankfully he wasn't harmed but having a six shooter or in this case an eight round clip made things more difficult when time and ease was crucial.
You're right IMO that semi-autos are for killing people just not mass murder as you suggest.
I purchased and underwent extensive firearms training for the sole purpose of killing someone if, God forbid, it ever came down to my life or the bad guys.
I'm also not ashamed to admit it either. I bought a Sig P226 like the shooter in CT. used and I purchased it because it was a favorite, with good reason, of most of law enforcement as well as some military at least at the time..
I've been faced with a shoot don't shoot situation and a kid about 15 almost died one night and would have if he'd taken literally one more step towards me. Did I want to shoot, h*ll no but would I have.......H*ll Yes!
You never want to be in such a situation and you pray you never will be forced to take another's life but you also train and prepare yourself to do what needs to be done if you're ever in such a situation.
I KNOW I can pull that trigger if necessary but I and I believe almost all gun owners pray to God they are never faced with such a situation where it is needed. No one wants to kill somebody else. If they do then they need some serious help and their guns removed from them.
Its not about being macho or showing off how big your gun is or any of the plethora of crap spewed by the liberals, Dems, and anti-gun nuts. Its about safety, for you, your family and possibly someone else.
The idiot who said a gun shouldn't have more than 2 or 3 bullets is just that, an idiot. It's too bad some of the material I was exposed to in my training isn't available to the public. It might change your mind and many others.
Once that still sticks with me close to thirty years on now is a re-enactment of a famous officer involved shooting in Newhall Calif.
The CHP officers back then carried 6 shot 38s and its shown in the video that at least a couple of them died while trying to reload. The gunmen just walked up to them and shot them while they were trying to get the old bullets out and use the speedy loader to put new ones in. Highly unlikely it would have happened if the officers had 5 fifteen round clips on them at the time and a semi-auto to use them with.
You also learn that in shooting incidents there are many, many rounds fired, often many more than the officer believes he actually fired. With all the rounds fired the number of hits in these firefight situations often will shock the heck out of you because they are so small in comparison to rounds fired.
Those are fully trained police officers, imagine a civilian in such situations and tell me that 15 round clip doesn't give him a better chance of walking away at the end.
So the problem boils down to your comment about nuts and "Sane" laws.
Its obvious that your definition and mine are vastly different.
I have no problem with reasonable gun laws, regulation, etc. What I fear by what you said is that your idea of reasonable is a far cry from mine. Not because I'm some "Gun nut" or even an NRA member but because you are so clearly anti-gun and I think the word 'reasonable' went out the window with you a long time ago.
Taking my gun or telling me I can't get a P226 or Glock, that I can't get 15 round mags and such isn't reasonable its an attack on my right to own a reasonable weapon to protect myself with. If you don't want to own a gun that is your right but your rights stop when you begin to tread on mine. You don't have the right to say I can't own one.
I can pass a criminal background check and have done so many times. I have had more training than many and yes I've carried concealed. The thing is those in the years I carried concealed, not one person ever knew that I had one on me. I didn't talk about it, brag about it or even tell anyone. I went into airports, schools, and many, many other places.
But I had protection on me and knew I could handle myself and use it if necessary.
You and others like you do NOT have the right to take that away from me or any other law abiding citizen out there.
These normal decent law abiding citizens are what you call "Gun nuts" and even though I've never joined the NRA, they are an organization that works to protect said citizens' rights to have weapons and be able to defend themselves.
After reading what the Dems are saying along with people like you, I think for the first time in my fifty years, that I am going to join that organization next month.
I also want to see if they still have that old bumper sticker that says something along the lines of "You can have my gun when you pry it from my cold dead fingers"
Because that's when you and others like you will get it, not before.
